Maximum Social Security check retirees will get next month

Millions of Americans with disabilities depend on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) to cover their daily expenses. With November just starting, beneficiaries are watching closely to know exactly when their next check will arrive and how much they’ll receive. For some, it’s the only steady income they have.

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), the average SSDI benefit sits around $1,537 per month, while the maximum monthly payment can reach $3,822 for workers with long and high-earning careers before their disability began.

SSDI payments for November

The SSA doesn’t send all checks on the same day. Payments are divided according to the beneficiary’s date of birth. Those born between the 1st and 10th of the month will receive their deposit on Thursday, November 13. People with birthdays between the 11th and the 20th will get paid on Thursday, November 20, and anyone born after the 21st will receive theirs on Thursday, November 27.

Those who began receiving SSDI benefits before May 1997 have a different rule: their payment is always issued on the first day of the month, which this time falls on Friday, November 1.

Who receives the highest SSDI check

Only a small portion of beneficiaries qualify for the maximum SSDI payment. This group usually includes people who worked for at least 35 years, earned high wages during their careers, and contributed consistently to Social Security. The longer and higher those contributions were, the closer the benefit is to the $3,822 monthly limit.

Those who entered the system with lower earnings or shorter work histories will see smaller amounts, even if their disability rating is severe. The SSA calculates benefits based on prior income, not the level of disability itself.

Why your check might be smaller or delayed

Sometimes, the amount of your SSDI payment changes because of adjustments from the SSA. This can happen if your income or household situation changes, if you receive another public disability benefit, or if your medical case is under review. Payment delays can also occur when the bank account on file is outdated or when the scheduled date falls near a holiday.

The SSA advises beneficiaries to wait at least three business days after the expected payment date before filing a report for a missing deposit. Most cases are resolved automatically once the bank processes the transfer.

The next Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) will take effect in January 2026, increasing SSDI benefits across the board. Until then, November payments will remain steady, following the same schedule and amounts. For now, those expecting the maximum SSDI check of $3,822 can rest assured — their deposit is only days away, and the SSA has confirmed all payments will be processed on time.
