$1,907 Social Security Check for Retirees Arrives Today

When Will SNAP Payments Arrive After the Shutdown Ends?

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments are hitting bank accounts this week across the United States. The maximum SSDI check of $3,822 is arriving today, Wednesday, November 12, for beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.

This payment is part of the regular Social Security calendar that divides recipients into groups. Millions of people rely on SSDI as their only source of income, and for many, today’s deposit will help cover rent, groceries, and other basic needs as the cost of living continues to rise.

How the Social Security SSDI schedule works

The Social Security Administration (SSA) follows a monthly schedule to send out SSDI benefits. Those who started receiving payments before May 1997 already got theirs on November 1. Everyone else is paid according to their date of birth, which determines which week their money arrives.

If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th, your SSDI payment is sent today. Those born between the 11th and 20th will be paid next week, on November 19, while the last group birthdays from the 21st to 31st will get their check on November 26.

SSDI payment amounts and who qualifies

The average monthly SSDI benefit for 2024 is around $1,537, but some recipients receive much more depending on their work history and past earnings. The maximum SSDI benefit  available to workers who had high lifetime earnings and paid into Social Security for many years — reaches $3,822 per month.

Payments are made through direct deposit or Direct Express cards, and in most cases arrive automatically in the morning. Paper checks are rare today, but they still exist for a small group of beneficiaries.

What to do if your SSDI payment doesn’t show up

Most deposits are processed overnight, but delays can happen due to bank holidays or technical issues. If your SSDI payment doesn’t appear today, the SSA advises waiting three business days before contacting your local office or calling the national helpline.

Keeping your bank information up to date and checking your My Social Security account online can help you avoid delays in future payments.

Starting in January 2025, SSDI and regular Social Security beneficiaries will see a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase. While the raise will be smaller than last year’s, it will still provide some extra money each month to keep pace with inflation. This annual adjustment ensures that both retirees and disabled workers receiving Social Security benefits maintain their purchasing power as prices increase.
