I love pasta in general, and if we talk about macaroni, I love it! So today I come with some great macaroni and meat gratin . This type of pasta admits any accompaniment: tuna, chicken, cheese, stewed meat, béchamel, tomato, chorizo, mushrooms, prawns and a long list of ingredients. But one of the biggest advantages they have is that when the gratins do not stick together and they are perfect.
These baked macaroni with meat and cheese gratin is one of the best recipes to use since, when you have stewed meat you can mix it with this pasta and it does not lose any flavor.
And best of all, it is a very easy, fast and cheap way to prepare pasta. And it is sure that the little ones and the oldest will like it, in a word, the whole family. Fixed that when the little ones see a plate like this on the table they are not going to protest!

- 500 gr of macaroni
- 250 gr of minced meat
- 400 gr of tomato sauce
- 200 gr of grated mozzarella cheese
- 100 ml milk
- 25g butter
- Olive oil
Macaroni and meat gratin: step by step
First of all, boil salted water in a saucepan large enough so that the macaroni does not stick together. When the water is bubbling, add the macaroni and cook for 7 to 9 minutes, depending on whether you like them more al dente or less.
After that time you drain the pasta, put it under the cold water tap and rinse it a bit to prevent the pasta from softening.
While the macaroni is cooking, you are making the meat. Put a little oil in a frying pan and when it is hot add the meat and the salt and pepper. You cook it for 2 minutes until it is done. You drain it and reserve it.
Place the macaroni in a large bowl and add the butter. Stir well until melted and then add the meat.
Add the tomato sauce, little by little, and stir it. Add the milk slowly and mix it again until you see that the pasta is juicy.
Place the macaroni in a baking dish and spread them evenly. Top them with plenty of grated cheese.
Put them in the oven and gratin them for 10 to 15 minutes until you get the browning you want. Turn off the oven (so they do not burn) and you can leave them inside until you are going to serve them.
My tips and tricks
- If you make them with tomato sauce you have to reduce it along with its liquid.
- You can add other spices to this sauce apart from oregano such as thyme, rosemary …
- If you like spicy you can also add a cayenne pepper.
- Do not stay short with the cheese because otherwise you will take away all the grace from the macaroni.
- If you accompany them with a good salad , you already have lunch or dinner ready.
