Onion rings recipe step by step
1.- The first thing is to peel and cut the onion into 1 cm thick slices. Discard the ends, the first outer ring, and the middle ones, making sure that no ring remains attached to another.
2.- As soon as you have them detached, put them in a container with cold water and a little salt to soften the flavor.
3.- While you are pouring the flour into a container, add the yeast and salt and mix it well so that the yeast is distributed throughout the flour.
4.- Now you take the rings out of the water and place them on an absorbent paper to dry them. Then you pass them through the flour, impregnate them on all sides and reserve. Do not throw away the flour that will be used to make the batter.
5.-Beat the egg in a bowl, add the milk and pepper and stir it. Add the flour and keep stirring until you get a homogeneous mixture without lumps.
6.- As soon as you have the mixture at its point, you submerge the rings in it, take them out and drain them a little. Then you pass them through the breadcrumbs that you have put in advance in a container and batter them on all sides.
7.- Put a frying pan on the fire with plenty of oil and as soon as it is hot, fry them over medium-low heat. When they are golden on one side, you turn them over to make the other.
8.- Finally, you take them out when they are golden brown and put them on a plate with absorbent paper to remove the excess oil.
My tips and tricks
You have to fry them in very hot oil so that the crust forms and they are more crisp.
You can coat them with normal breadcrumbs.
Don’t throw away the leftover onion, you can use it for other dishes.
