This time I bring you something different and delicious, zucchini and cheese burgers, a healthy, appetizing and low-calorie alternative to the traditional hamburger made with meat.
The truth is that they have it all. They are juicy, tasty, easy to make, nutritious, healthy and perfect for the little ones in the house to eat vegetables “in disguise” without realizing it and if you change the cow’s milk for another type they are perfect for vegetarians.
I love to cook homemade hamburgers and there is no color with the ones they sell on the street, also if instead of accompanying them with bread you do it with a good salad you have an ideal and fun dish for diet.

Zucchini and cheese burgers: step by step
Ingredients:
- 2 small or 1 large zucchini
- 1 leek
- 100 gr of grated mozzarella type cheese
- 50 gr of breadcrumbs
- 40 gr of flour
- 1 sachet of baking powder
- 1/2 glass of milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
Combine the bread, flour, yeast, garlic and oregano in a large bowl. You stir all the ingredients, add the milk and stir until you get a homogeneous mass. Now add 2 tablespoons of oil and stir until everything is well integrated and let it rest while you prepare the vegetables.
Besides, you have to wash the zucchini very well since you are not going to peel them and the leek (this if you have to remove the first layer). Chop them very finely, add salt and pepper and sauté them with a little oil. When they are done you integrate them into the dough that you have left resting and mix them well.
Heat another little oil and sauté the dough for 2 minutes to remove excess water.
You remove it from the heat, put it in the large bowl, add the grated cheese and stir it well.
You already have the dough for the burgers, so now it’s time to shape them. Take a little of the mixture and make it into a ball, cover your hands with flour so that they do not stick to you, and on a piece of baking paper or on a plate covered with a little flour, crush the balls to give them a hamburger shape. .
Put a pan on the fire with a little oil and when it is hot, add the burgers, put the heat on medium-low so they do not burn, and when they are golden brown and crisp on both sides, you take them out of the pan and place them in a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
My tips and tricks
- If you like the dough more compact, you can add a little flour to it.
- Vegetables are browned on their own so they are not raw.
- Do not add the cheese before to avoid that it loses flavor and does not burn.
- You can accompany these burgers with sesame, fries without oil , bread or whatever you can think of as they combine perfectly with almost everything.
