If you have an Aldi center near your home and are looking for home decorating ideas with plants that do not require much care, you are in luck. Aldi is selling these days the Zamioculca Zamiifolia plant, popularly known as ZZ. But beware. When it is offered for sale, ready to decorate homes, that is a plant that usually sells out very quickly. We explain the reasons why.
The reason is quite simple: in addition to a good decorative effect, it is a plant that requires little care. In fact, it is a very difficult plant to kill. Something especially good when you don’t have much experience with plants or a lot of time to devote to their care. You have to think that decorating with houseplants is attractive and interesting for almost any decorative style. But, some plants are delicate and need a lot of care.
Why decorate your home with the ZZ plant?
These sensitive plants are more suitable for those with enough time and knowledge to care for them. Unfortunately, most of us do not have much time or knowledge about plants. That forces us to learn or dedicate more minutes to caring for these living beings that we want to use as home decorations. In the case of ZZ plants, we are dealing with a truly surviving plant.
It does not need to water them as often as other plants since it has its origin in East Africa. In this area, it has adapted to survive relatively long periods without rain. It can retain in the stem and leaf more water and for longer than other plants. It is also specially adapted to survive in less light than others. That does not mean you should not care that it receives light, as the amount of light will influence its growth. However, if you compare them to other plants that, without light, will die quickly, ZZs are really tough.
The basic care of Zamioculca Zamiifolia
Very suitable for spaces such as work areas, desks or offices, the care of this plant is really simple. If you buy them at Aldi, they will come with their pot. Depending on the growth, you should, at some point, transplant it to a larger pot, although this will not happen immediately.
Watering this plant should be done just when you check that the potting soil is completely dry. That is likely to happen within two to three weeks. As long as it gets some light regularly and you water it at the right rate, you are already taking care of it. Keep one thing in mind, although it is tough as nails, it is not immortal: overwatering can kill the plant by rotting its roots. So, water only when it needs it, and everything will be fine.
