Properly cleaning and maintaining your vehicle neat provides hygiene and comfort when driving it back and forth your kids to school, or when having to go to the supermarket. It reduces the sensation of being overwhelmed since it is not the same to drive with a car full of food leftovers or beverage cans, compared to a clean, tidy, good-smelling vehicle. In addition, it affects not only the correct cleanliness of the car’s inside, but also its exterior.

The windshield is a fundamental part of our vehicle, although we often do not give it the importance we should. The dirt of all kinds, from dust to bird droppings, rain debris, etc., accumulates on the windshield. Keeping it clean ensures a correct vision in our driving, which is why it is necessary to consider it. If you don’t want to drive with dirt on the inside of your windshield, pay attention to these tips.

The importance of keeping the windshield clean inside and out

We are not only talking about keeping the windshield clean on the outside, but it is just as important to keep it clean on the inside. Dust accumulates mainly on the inside, but it can also get dirty: it can enter from the outside through the air vents or the side windows when they are open. But we can also find dust, stains, splashes, fingerprints, etc., which worsen our field of vision when driving.

Keeping clean your car’s windshield is indispensable for your safety.

If you smoke inside the vehicle, you must know that the smoke also stains the windshield and door’s windows. So, if you do it regularly, the windshield cleaning must also be equally regular. Even the heat or the sun’s rays can stain our windshield. The mist created because of the temperature contrast between our vehicle’s outside and inside leaves a kind of imprint on the windshield and windows that are important to eliminate.

Not only the proper cleaning of our car will get rid of the most difficult stains. Maintaining this cleanliness is not as complicated as it may seem. In this way, and following some tricks we will offer you below, it will be much easier to keep the windshield of your car clean.

Tips to clean your car’s windshield

The first step is to remove all the dirt and dust with a dry microfiber cloth, without applying any liquid, because this way you prevent a mud from forming on the glass. Then, with another dry microfiber cloth, you can apply small amounts of alcohol to remove fats and oils.

In these steps, try not to apply that much pressure, so you won’t scratch the glass.

When it is free of dust and fats, using an atomizer, spray a mixture of 50% white vinegar and 50% water on the glass. You can use a dry microfiber cloth (that you haven’t used in the previous two steps) or you can opt for a trick I learned from my dad: newspaper. This paper leaves no fibers or residues and cleans any glass wonderfully.

Inside, you can repeat the exact same process, but you can end with a smell of vinegar which is not that nice, but it’s normal. The smell will go away in a matter of minutes, so don’t worry: your car will not smell like a salad bowl.

Avoid to touch the glass with your bare hands as much as possible, and also to use dirty cloths you’ve used to clean some other surfaces in the vehicle.
