Almost all bathrooms are full of tiles, especially on the wall, since they provide a special brightness and warmth to this room of the home. However, this shine does not last forever, so it is advisable to change them from time to time.

Many people think that the only alternative they have is to buy new tiles, but there is another simpler method: decorating them with the motif of a precious flower that will completely renew their appearance, the lavender flower. Below, you will learn how to do it.

How to renovate your tiles with lavender

It seems incredible that a simple flower design can radically change the aesthetics of a tile, doesn’t it? Well, incredible as it may be, it is true. Moreover, it is very easy to achieve. Just follow these steps:

Prepare the tiles

Whatever their original color, you must paint the tiles with special white enamel. Once you have applied the first coat, you should let them dry for a whole day: approximately 24 hours. After this time, and making sure that the glaze is completely dry, fill a piping bag with joint filler and make a small cut in the tip.

The cut should be very small, because it will serve to make the stems of the flowers. However, precisely because of their short size, you must ensure that the putty comes out well. When you have checked, draw the stems on top of the tiles and let them sit for about two hours to dry.

Add flowers

Use another sleeve to add purple paint. When you have it inside, make a cut, also of small size, on its tip. Once you have the sleeve ready, bring it close to the stems and press lightly to form the flowers to your liking. Repeat the process as many times as necessary to create complete bouquets of flowers.

When you are finished, let the lavender flowers you have drawn dry for 24 hours. It is important that you do not touch the paint during this time, because you can ruin the final result.

Change the wall

Use the putty on this occasion to apply a coat of white tile glaze along the entire length of the wall. Then, apply a coat of the same enamel with the help of a brush on a piece to make the patina.

The next thing you should do is apply the lavender purple paint to the edges of each tile, gently using a small brush. Do the same on the entire surface of all tiles.

Finishes the job

The last step is to perfect the flowers you drew. To do this, dip a bristle brush into the lavender paint you have used so far and use the dry brush technique to gently color the relief of the flowers on the tiles.

You got it! Now all that remains is to let the paint dry and enjoy original, beautiful tiles with a lot of personality. Your guests will be more than surprised!
