Every summer my wife and I like to make paper mills, to put them in the pots on the terrace, apart from being decorative they drive away insects.
Also when my nephew’s birthday arrives, we get together making different colored pinwheels to place them in the straws of the glasses so that the children can distinguish which one is theirs.

The crane for thousands of years is for Japanese culture a symbol of honor and loyalty. Along with the phoenix, the crane is the most powerful bird and the one that best represents good fortune. Because of its great importance, the Japanese believe that if a person makes a thousand cranes his most precious wish will be fulfilled.
The thousand origami cranes became a symbol of peace because of the story of Sadako Sasaki , a Japanese girl who wanted to be cured of her illness caused by the radiation of the atomic bomb that fell on Hiroshima. When she was in the hospital, her friend Chizuko reminded her of the tradition of making a thousand paper cranes. He thought that his wish would not only be to heal himself, but also so that the whole world could live in peace and there would be no more wars. Sadako could not overcome her illness and neither did she finish all the cranes, she only reached 644. But Chizuko and other friends came to make the thousand cranes, which in this way, became a symbol of peace throughout the world.
