5 homemade tricks to clean white fabric sneakers

Chances are that you have all the materials and ingredients at home without knowing it, since they are everyday products, affordable and easy to obtain. So, let’s get to work! When you see how white they look, you’ll want them to dry soon so you can show them off to the world and share this new knowledge.

You will need the following:

Baking soda and detergent

This is one of the most effective and least damaging techniques for the canvas of the shoes. This is the process:

  1. The first thing to do is to remove the laces or shoelaces.
  2. In a bowl place one tablespoon of baking soda, one tablespoon of detergent and one tablespoon of water.
  3. Stir gently for 1 minute.
  4. With the toothbrush spread this mixture over the shoe and all the stains on it with gentle movements so that the fabric is not broken or damaged.
  5. Let stand for 30 minutes.
  6. With the dry cloth, remove all the mixture and let it dry overnight.

For the laces or shoelaces you only need to use this same mixture and let the laces soak for a while, finally, scrub a little and rinse as usual.

Baking soda and vinegar

This is another mixture quite useful for softening heavy stains on any surface, not only on the fabric of shoes, but also on the kitchen, countertop and pots full of grease. Follow these steps:

washing white footwear baking soda vinegar cloth

  1. In a bowl with a little warm water add two tablespoons of white vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda and mix.
  2. Soak the stain and rub this mixture with a toothbrush.
  3. Let it act for 25 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle another bit of baking soda on the most severe stains and rub again.
  5. Rinse thoroughly to remove all residues.
  6. Leave to dry in the shade at room temperature so that the sun does not deteriorate the fabric.

Lemon, stain remover par excellence

This is a natural degreaser that you can use as a replacement for bleach and without the risk of it being abrasive to the fabric. All you have to do is the following:

  1. Cut the lemon in half and rub on the surface of the shoe (harder on the stains).
  2. Then scrub with a toothbrush and leave for a few minutes.
  3. Finally, rinse with warm water and let them dry at room temperature.

Toothpaste for rubber or soles

  1. Place a small amount of white toothpaste on a toothbrush or shoe brush and scrub the entire sole (including underneath) to remove all the dirt.
  2. Moisten the brush with a little water to create a lather and remove all the dirt.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and remove all excess residue.
  4. Allow to dry in the shade.

White eraser

The same one you used in elementary school, which, although at first glance seems unusual, it really works and has a lot of power. It is an effective, harmless and immediate method to clean the soles of white sneakers. Just rub until the stain is removed until the dirt disappears.
