Those who began receiving Social Security payments prior to May 1997 will receive their benefits on the third day of each month. For all other Social Security payments, disbursement is determined by the recipient’s date of birth.

It’s worth noting that in March, two Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are sent out: one for the current month and an advance payment for April, due to the fact that the first day of April falls on a Saturday.
