Although at first Amy and Kate, with their twin sons, found their home to be extremely charming, that is, a genuine and authentic home, this glow soon wore off. The general idea of the house was fine, but it was becoming too outdated. Owners increasingly disliked old furniture and decoration that was very out of the design line.
Fortunately, the Scott twins came along and proposed an integrated renovation to this cottage, which was full of possibilities, to create its best version. Let us tell you all the details!
What did the Scott brothers do to renovate an old rustic farmhouse?
When Canada’s most famous twins arrived at Kate and Amy’s home, they immediately appreciated that they were looking at a true gem of architecture and rustic aesthetics: a beautiful country home that made it easy to understand why they had once fallen in love with it. But the reality is that after nine years of living there, every home corner cried out for a good renovation, which is what the Scott brothers did.
We are going to tell you in detail what were the changes that turned the old rustic house into a beautiful country house, classic but updated:
- The living room of the house had many possibilities, because it had a nice fireplace and also a large window through which a lot of light came in. However, the dark wood tones made it a dark room, with no decoration and completely nondescript furniture that cried out for a change. The twins completely renovated the living room, painting it in light colors that allowed light to enter and reflect in every corner. They also changed the sofas for more comfortable ones and decorated the room, giving the same prominence to the beautiful fireplace.
- Another change they made, which is a classic in the Scott brothers’ renovations, is to knock down some walls so that there are wider spaces and the light spreads out. The foyer, living room, and dining room were separate rooms with thick wooden doors that made the rooms cramped. By throwing everything away, the dining room, for example, gained a lot of space and was directly linked to the living room.
- On the other hand, the entire dining room was also changed. There used to be large hardwood furniture, with a huge table in the center that took up space and meant that only a few people could eat there. Adding a continuous bench, a more elegant and wider table, and some decorative objects on the walls, which were dyed white, made the room look like something else. The couple could not believe their eyes.
- And there was also a big change at the entrance of the house. We always say that you have to give the importance it has to this room that is the first thing you find when you arrive at a house. It used to be a dark, cramped, old room and became a perfect space, with large openings to the living room and dining room that are so close together, and a nice shoe bench so that a person can also sit over there.
In the photographs of how the house looked at the end of the renovation, you can see that the twins respected the general aesthetics of a rustic home , a beautiful country house with a classic feel, which is what the family fell in love with when they bought it. But taking much more advantage of the space of each room, giving prominence to the classic elements, such as floors, and providing brightness with light shades on the walls. They also had the detail to follow a rustic decor with handmade dishes on the walls. And what would you have thought of this change if you had been the family that owned this huge, rustic house?
