Not only am I a fan of Costco, but I also worked there and had the opportunity to learn some tricks and find the most incredible things. I’m going to tell you in this article all my secrets, to get the most out of your trip to the supermarket, or your online shopping session.

Pump up your coffee… even more

Coffee is that boost of energy you need to start the day. Although caffeine by itself has the ability to wake you up from your morning lethargy, if you add Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, you will surely have all the strength to start the week or any day that looks difficult (sometimes, not only Mondays are terrible, and your body knows it).

You can add it to a cold or hot drink, and it does not affect the taste. It only has 70 calories per serving, but provides 18 grams of protein and 20 grams of collagen. You can find a 24 ounce container for $31.99, but sometimes I’ve seen it on sale starting at $21.99.

Nonni’s Almond Dark Chocolate Biscotti

The biscotti should be in the Italian flag. I mean: it’s crunchy, it’s delicious and its Italian, and Italy is all about incredible passionate food. The Nonni’s Almond Dark Chocolate Biscotti are all I needed when having a café mocha, café latte, or even a glass of milk.

A spoonful of super vitamins

I admit it: I’m not a big fan of eating fruits and vegetables along the day. Sometimes I don’t eat the amount recommended by my doctor, and I know that it can have long term consequences. But, since I found the Juce blend from Terra Kai Organic, I discovered the life hack I needed to maintain the vitamin balance my body demands.

The one I buy, which tastes like berries from the garden, has 30 milligrams of vitamin C and adds 4 grams of fiber per serving to your daily diet. And that’s not all: it is suitable for celiac people because it does not contain gluten, and vegans can consume it because it is free from animal products.

Chocolate + extra protein: it’s my thing

One of the best-selling protein lines at Costco is Fairlife Nutrition Plan, and my favorite is the chocolate milkshake that I usually drink after coming back from the gym (I go four or five times a week).

It only has 2 grams of sugar and 150 calories per serving, but it contains 8 natural vitamins and minerals. The company does not use artificial growth hormones to produce and its products are kosher certified.

The pack of 18 bottles is worth $$32.49 and ships to almost all the US states.

Late to prepare the dinner? This is your savior

I am a fan of chicken in all its forms and preparations, but I think few store chickens compare to Just Bare’s, which you always find in every Costco, all along the year. Seriously, I’m not exaggerating.

Its mixture of seasonings and spices is a secret that I have not been able to decipher, and the breading is just so subtle but enough to give it a crunchiness that I cannot explain. It’s just perfect!

Oh dear, you will love this chicken nuggets. Trust me. Photo thanks to Kiersten Hickman/Eat This, Not That!

Free-range hens = more succulent eggs

The renowned Kirkland brand sells its cage-free egg whites at Costco, with which I add enough protein and vitamin B12 to my diet, while makes me happy to be using products with an ethical treatment to the animals.

This free-range egg whites only have 25 calories per serving and are in their natural liquid state. No artificial or chemical treatments! You can buy six boxes for $10.99 (but they are not available in every store, so you better check in your local one).

90 seconds to prepare a nutritious lunch

Quinoa and rice were born to be together. I know that now everybody eat it, but I’ve been adding quinoa to my diet for years, not only because of its natural flavor, which reminds me of my trip to Peru and Bolivia a few years ago, but because it adds a lot of dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals to my diet. And as the son of Latinos, my family’s diet is largely based on rice.

I buy at least one six-pack of boxes per month of Seeds of Change brand, and they cost me just $10.99. It is prepared in less than two minutes in a microwave, without you having to sacrifice its flavor and nutrition qualities.

Canadian whisky, my discovery of the year

The Scottish may be kinda nervous, taking a look at what’s happening with the whisky industry in Canada, and I know why. Various canadian brands have been competing for some years in the big leagues, and some of the most popular american food brands have not missed the opportunity to sell their versions. It’s the case of our beloved seasoning and seasoning brand Kirkland, which ventured into this branch of spirits with a whiskey aged in oak barrels.

When you open the bottle, it releases a perfume that prepares you for a fantastic sensory experience.

The best part is that it only costs $18.99 and can please even the most exquisite of palates. It’s not available in all the US locations, so you have to check in your local one. (If you are in Mexico, they do have it! What?!)

Long day, tired skin

I work in an office part time. It may like it’s not that much, but it is exhausting not only because of the time I spend there, but because of the vicissitudes of going back and forth from my apartment, with everything that entails crossing a city.

The skin is one of the parts of your body that suffers the most when living in a concrete city, and I give mine a treat every night with Perricone MD products, which are available in all the US stores. My favorite is the hyaluronic acid eye contour, which provides the hydration and nutrition I have not achieved with any other brand. The 0.5 ounce bottle sales for $37.99 and can be purchased in store and online.

I use this almost every night, specially after a long day in the office. Photo: Costco

I have more products of this amazing brand, but this one is my favorite. It can be used by women and men, because we all have to take care of our skins, specially living in polluted cities. Don’t you feel sorry to protect your skin from that wild, savage world: it’s necessary!
