The first thing we have to do before starting to clean the freezer is to unplug it or set its thermostat to 0º.
We will carefully remove the food that we have stored in it and place it in portable refrigerators and isothermal bags with ice or with the containers that there are to put in the freezer and be able to take the food in the refrigerators to keep it cold. We will place them in a cool and dark place so that they can keep as cold as possible and nothing will thaw.

A trick that I used in my previous freezer to make it defrost faster was to put a saucepan with hot water and that way the ice would melt faster; As the ice will melt, we can take advantage of it to remove the pieces of plastic and food that may have been left in the freezer.
Then we will remove it being careful not to burn ourselves with the pieces of ice and the frost that is inside the freezer, and we will take out the trays, racks and drawers, etc. that divide the freezer space, we will scrub and disinfect them in the sink using the hydrogen peroxide or baking soda .
Next I am going to tell you how I do it with the baking soda, since in this way we can eliminate the bad smell, the germs, the bacteria and the dirt that has embedded: We will make a mixture to form a paste and later the we will use to clean all the walls of the freezer, we will use 150gr. of bicarbonate and water.

We will soak a cloth with the previous mixture and we will rub it all over the inside of the freezer (in this way we will disinfect it) and we will remove the bad odors.
With a clean cloth we will remove the remains of bicarbonate from the freezer, we will let it dry or we will dry it with kitchen paper. After making sure that everything is completely dry, we will start the freezer again for about 20 minutes before starting to put all the food inside it again.
As you can see, it is very easy to do this, this cleaning can be done frequently, thus facilitating the proper functioning of this appliance.

NOTE :
We will never use metallic things (knives, ice picks, metallic spatulas, etc.) to remove the frost or pieces of ice from the freezer, we could spoil it.
We should not use hair dryers, heaters or any appliance that emits heat and is plugged into the electrical network, since if it comes into contact with water it could give us electric shocks, burn and even produce a short circuit.
Nor will we use soap to clean the walls of the freezer, apart from the fact that it will be difficult to rinse it and removing all the foam can affect the flavors of the food.
