In response to the recent storms that have impacted Mendocino County, the USDA has approved CalFresh replacement food for affected families. The USDA Food and Nutrition Service has granted a Timely Reporting Waiver to CalFresh households affected by weather events starting on Saturday, Feb. 3, allowing them to seek replacement of lost food, as reported by Mendocino County officials this week.

According to the released information, affected households in Mendocino County can request replacement of their CalFresh benefits, up to a one-month allotment, if they report food loss due to the aforementioned weather event. Officials emphasize that households have until March 4, 2024, to request replacement by submitting a Replacement Affidavit through www.benefitscal.com or local offices.

The Ukiah office, located at 737 S. State St., is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Fort Bragg office, situated at 764 S. Franklin St., is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

San Diego CalFresh Beneficiaries Can Also Apply for Replacement

Recent storms also impacted in San Diego County, if your food was compromised by flooding or power outages, there is an opportunity to seek a replacement of your CalFresh benefits until February 21, 2024. Notably, the reporting period has been extended from 10 days to 30 days, allowing affected households to report food loss to the County of San Diego by the specified date.

Reports submitted within this extended timeframe will be considered for review, emphasizing the commitment to accommodating those impacted by the adverse weather conditions.
