You Won’t Believe Who Wins the Dollar Tree vs. Walmart Price Battle

Is Dollar Tree cheaper than Walmart? This price comparison reveals the truth for our household economy.

Dollar Tree vs. Walmart: Who Wins the Battle of the Bargains?

Once upon a time, Dollar Tree was the go-to store for budget-conscious shoppers seeking cheap deals on a range of items, including food products. However, according to a recent viral TikTok video, Walmart has upped its game in the race to the bottom of the pricing war, and Dollar Tree’s reputation as the bargain king is being called into question.

In the video, TikTok user Morgan (@morganchompz) reveals that many items sold at Walmart are cheaper than their Dollar Tree counterparts. For example, Walmart’s Great Value branded products often offer better value for money, with more product for a lower price. The video has gone viral, with many viewers expressing surprise at Dollar Tree’s supposed decline in value.

TikTokers Are Disappointed With Dollar Tree and Its Prices

Many consumers have taken to social media to express their disappointment with Dollar Tree, claiming that the store is no longer the bargain haven it once was. Several customers have reported that Walmart’s off-brand items are a better deal, with prices that beat Dollar Tree’s standard $1.25 price tag. Furthermore, many customers have complained about the declining quality and content of items sold at dollar stores, with some stating that they only shop at Dollar Tree for decorative or miscellaneous items.

The rise in inflation has only exacerbated the problem, with many customers now forced to compare prices more closely and turn to off-brand products to save money. While Dollar Tree may have once been the best place to find cheap deals, it appears that Walmart has overtaken the store in the race to offer the lowest prices.

Dollar Tree Have Been Defeated by Walmart on These Prices

When buying similar products directly at Dollar Tree, compared to Walmart, important price differences can be found. For example, The Crest 2.9 oz is priced for $0.33/oz at Walmart, while at Dollar Tree it’s $0.34/oz.

One 16 oz bottle of The Works Bathroom Cleaner costs $0.98, 2 cents below Dollar Tree’s price of $1.00. Also, the Comer Cleaner 25 oz bottle is tagged at $0.03/oz in Walmart stores, while at Dollar Tree it is $.0.04/oz.

If you’re into cooking, you’ll need spices: the garlic powder costs $0.28 at Walmart, per ounce. Meanwhile, at Dollar Tree, it’s market at $0.60/oz.

There are some price tag still lower at Dollar Tree: in a package of tissue paper, in different sizes, at Dollar Tree it costs $0.04 per sheet, while at Walmart an equivalent one cost $0.09. And I think we can all agree that toilet paper is necessary in absolutely every house in America. Yes or yes, we have to buy tissue paper because we are going to use it.

Some other costumers shared their own experiences. “Walmart brand Mac & cheese is only 50¢!” one user exclaimed. “Much better choice than Dollar Trees’,” said a woman on TikTok. “Party supplies, such as plates, napkins, and tablecloths are better quality at Walmart,” another observed.

“I don’t find that groceries are cheaper at dollar tree anymore— I go there for the ‘miscellaneous’ buys like baskets and random kitchen utensils,” stated another angry shopper.
