Every time a new Ikea collection comes out, we are ready to take a look at it and tell you about the most outstanding products. I know, it’s hard to decide which products are “outstanding”, but these side tables, part of the Nytillverkad collection, are the renewal of a classic that was previously only available in wood color.

In the Nytillverkad collection, Ikea renews several of its historical pieces with a colorful, playful approach, full of vibrant patterns that will make your house go from being just “a place” to being “YOUR place”. The new colors available on the LÖVBACKEN tables take the color theory to a new place of thinking.

The IKEA Lövbacken side table: New colors for a timeless classic

The Ikea LÖVBACKEN side table is more than just a piece of furniture; it is a statement of modern design with a splash of the Bauhaus design. With its organic curving shape and distinctive wood grain pattern, this side table captures attention and brings that classic convergence between Art Decó and the Bauhaus school. Crafted with care by IKEA of Sweden, the LÖVBACKEN Side Table is a true embodiment of form and function that now come with a new splash of color.

The heart of the Ikea LÖVBACKEN side table’s charm is its tabletop design. The organic curving shape creates a visually attention-getting silhouette, setting it apart from traditional rectangular tables. The flowing lines and gentle curves lend a sense of grace to the table, making it a captivating focal point in any room.

Originally, the LÖVBACKEN table was only available in a medium brown wood color, but now, in the Nytillverkad collection, comes in blue, green, and orange. It’s at the same time a new interpretation of the LÖVET table, another classic that has sold hundreds of thousands of units since it was launched in 1956.

From the LÖVET to the LÖVBACKEN tables: IKEA’s time-tested classics

In the 1956 Ikea catalog, the LÖVET coffee table made its debut, accompanied by Ingvar Kamprad’s enthusiastic endorsement as “a delightful little piece, boasting an ultra-modern design.” Crafted with a jacaranda top and adorned with brass-covered feet, the LÖVET table possessed an intriguing feature: it could be conveniently packed into a compact flat pack.

Described at the time as “individually packed in wood wool & cardboard with string,” this innovation paved the way for a remarkable era of self-assembly products within the Ikea range. Although LÖVET was not the inaugural creation of its kind, with the DELFI, KÖKSA, and RIGA tables introduced in 1953, it left an indelible mark on the Ikea catalog until 1962.

Following its initial success, the LÖVET coffee table took an extended hiatus until 2013 when a serendipitous encounter occurred between product developer Glenn Berndtsson and Ingvar Kamprad. Engaged in a conversation about delving into Ikea’s archival treasures, fondly referred to as ‘the treasure chest,’ the duo aimed to uncover hidden gems worthy of a fresh lease on life. It was during this exploration that LÖVET resurfaced, capturing their attention as a potential candidate for revival: Now, it’s the LÖVBACKEN that’s ready to change your home decor forever.
