Puma went to its design archive and got specifically submerged into a folder labeled as “the 2000s decade”. Its designers started watching MTV videos of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Fatboy Slim, and even Britney Spears. Thankfully, they realized that Y2K was not a global disaster, and found several of their most successful models of that time. And, of course, took a look at their sneakers from those years.

Do you remember the Puma Suede Classic sneakers? Damn, those are a time-tested classic that became a standard. How about the Puma Clyde? Thousands of designs from global brands have based on this piece of art. OMG! The Puma Roma sneakers shoes are so sleek and stylish, but also state-of-the-art at that moment.

Puma Velophasis Sneakers: Future Nostalgia

With a nostalgia that possessed them, Puma brings this year the new line of Veloplasis sneakers, with that inspiration in the 2000s but with the technology of 2023, and they are designed to be part of the high-performance running range. These sneakers have a dynamic silhouette and overlapping details for a technological look that you are sure to love.

First, the comfort: The Softfoam+ patented technology insole is designed to provide soft cushioning thanks to an extra thick heel with high shock attenuation. Then the shoe body is made of mesh to make them breathable and cool. The extra thick tongue hugs the instep for extra safety when walking and running with these sneakers.

The Velophasis sneakers series has three variants: Bionic, Phased and Technisch. You’ve probably already seen Skepta’s Instagram post using the Technisch Velophasis during Paris Fashion Week, and you were waiting for more details. Well, here they are, and soon you can add them to your collection.

The honeycomb mesh is attached to the textured leather panels that give a retro but futuristic feeling. I know they are antagonistic concepts, but imagine how a person would see the future back in 2000, conceive how sneakers would be in 2023. Well, this is what these fabulous shoes look like. Although there are some metallic textures, Puma chose to look for a less bombastic and rather quiet design, so they are suitable for any occasion. I even imagine them in a fancy dress or suit at a wedding. Seriously, they would look super cool!

The Puma Velophasis Bionic model is available for $150 at Puma Stores and on its website. They were also put for sale at selected retailers. From February 11, three color combinations of the Phased series will be implemented. In the spring of 2023 there will be more color options and collaborations at a price of $130. Run to the stores and grab your new retro sneakers!
