You could get more money in SNAP benefits – Here's how it will happen. |You will get more money in your EBT card.

Three US states will receive more money to make it easier for SNAP recipients to buy more fresh foods such as fruits and vegetables, so they have a better diet and better health. Do you want more money to feed your home better? This will be the perfect time and we will tell you how to apply to receive a part of the $9.5 million that will be distributed.

SNAP benefit participants will receive 30 cents for every SNAP dollar spent on fruits and vegetables directly from their EBT card. The rebate can be redeemed during any future SNAP-eligible food purchases, up to $25 per month. The pilot will be called electronic healthy incentives pilot (eHIP).

If you live in one of these US states, you will get bigger SNAP benefits

There are already some ways to be able to buy mass food with your SNAP benefits, all in order for your home to receive better food. In recent years, the Double Up Food Bucks program have been becoming more and more popular. If you already receive SNAP benefits, you’re automatically eligible for these bucks. Since it was launched back in 2009 in Michigan, more than 30 million pounds of healthy food have been given to American families.

Here’s how it works: Let’s say you have $10 in SNAP benefits. When you use that $10 to buy fresh fruits and veggies at a participating store, Double Up Food Bucks kicks in and gives you an extra $10 to spend on more fruits and veggies! So now you’ve got a whopping $20 to buy nutritious food.

Beside this program, from August 2024, recipients in Colorado, Louisiana, and Washington are set to receive this extra SNAP benefits from the eHIP. It is advisable to keep an eye on any announcements, messages, emails, or calls from your local SNAP office, in case you have to fill out any additional requests or any specific forms for those extra 30 cents for every dollar.

Do you need to replace your food stamps after the storm? Here’s how to do it

SNAP consumers in several US states are going to receive the replacement of their groceries purchased with SNAP benefits that were lost during the recent storms. For example, beneficiaries in 12 storm-affected Oklahoma counties will see more money coming into their EBT cards. These counties are: Atoka, Creek, Johnston, Mayes, McCurtain, McIntosh, Muskogee, Payne, Pushmataha, Rogers, Tulsa, and Wagoner.

It will happen the same in the next Texas counties: Camp, Cass, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Ochiltree, Panola, Titus, Upshur, and Wood. Eligible Texans can request replacement food benefits by dialing 2-1-1 and selecting option 8 or by downloading Form H1855.

SNAP recipients in Tennessee will get their food stamps replaced, due to the power shortages after the recent storms. Memphis and Shelby counties residents are entitled to get this good news.

Louisiana residents in Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Claiborne, DeSoto, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Red River, Richland, Tensas, Union, Webster, West Carroll and Winn parishes can apply for the replacement of the SNAP benefits if they lost power for 24 hours or more, during the mid-June storms.

The last one in the list is Massachusetts, where residents lose power, causing a loss of food. To request replacement benefits in Massachusetts, report the loss by filing form SNAP 9B, which you can upload to DTAConnect.com. Alternatively, you can call the DTA Assistance Line at 1-877-382-2363 to file your claim.
