Your old kitchen might have been suitable for your needs back in the day, but as time goes by, it’s natural to want more convenience and practicality in your daily life. An outdated kitchen can be quite perplexing to navigate, with limited storage space, inadequate lighting, and outdated appliances that make cooking and meal preparation a daunting task. You don’t want to spend more time than necessary looking for utensils or ingredients, or struggling with a stove that doesn’t work as it should. That’s why renovating your kitchen with modern Ikea furniture can be a smart move.

But you have to be smart with the use of money, because although Ikea furniture pieces are affordable each of them, the sum of several can result in several thousand dollars of investment. If you do not think well about the combination of elements and their different values, at the end of the day, you are spending more than you should for a kitchen renovation process.

These Home Renovators Turned an Old, Outdated Kitchen Into a Modern Style Piece of Art

Your old kitchen might have been functional, but it lacked personality and character. Every meal you prepare in your kitchen should be a burst of creativity and inspiration, but that’s hard to achieve in a bland and uninspiring environment. That was the starting point for home renovators Elise Birnbaum and her husband, Harrison.

The owners, who loved using their kitchen for cooking and entertaining, wanted to make the space feel more connected and functional, as well as more contemporary. To achieve their dream kitchen, Morgan and Lexi, from Studio Lithe, did their magic. The design team proposed various layouts and color schemes until settling on an organic-meets-warm vibe that incorporated Ikea cabinetry and other bespoke touches. But before they could start beautifying the space, they had to address some issues from the past.

A Brand New IKEA Kitchen for Little Money and Almost No Effort

The designers noticed that a secondary back door took up valuable wall space and that a radiator prevented the installation of base cabinetry. They came up with a brilliant solution to cover the door: get rid of the radiator, and install a larger window for more natural light. They also created a pass-through from the kitchen to the dining room, which was connected by a new peninsula.

Now, the owners have a beautifully renovated kitchen that is not only functional, but also aesthetically pleasing and accord to the times. With the help of talented designers and some creative problem-solving, this older home has been given new life!

A Minimalism-Inspired Kitchen With IKEA Affordable Pieces

The designers drew inspiration from the personal histories of the homeowners and the Japanese minimalism, resulting in a space that is warm and natural without being stuffy, and minimalist without being cold. This cooking haven is a perfect reflection of the homeowners’ unique style and sensibilities.

The live-edge pantry and shelf above the peninsula are examples of how a little creativity and craftsmanship can make all the difference. The resulting kitchen is a beautiful blend of Craftsman-style natural references and the elegant simplicity of Japanese design.
