These are the five best frozen pizzas from Trader Joe’s

Tes, a freshly baked pizza is better, but sometimes you don't have time to stop by Sbarro to grab a bite to eat. You go straight to your freezer, and there it: is a frozen pizza to save the day.

If I had to choose one product to eat for the rest of my life, it would be pizza, without hesitation. I wouldn’t miss the burgers or the hot dogs that much (well, I’d miss a little the Costco $1.50 hot dogs). But the pizza! What a beautiful fruit of the nature!

And of all the shapes and colors in which pizzas in Trader Joe’s are sold all around the world, frozen ones are the most controversial. The quality of frozen pizza can vary from a dry, more like a cardboard unchewable dough, with something white on top (which sometimes looks more like a slime than a dairy product), to one that can transport you to Napoli or Rome in a scene similar to the one where Anton Ego tries Remy’s Ratatouille.

TJ’s has a bet on frozen pizzas

And, of all the supermarket chains, Trader Joe’s has one of the widest varieties of frozen pizzas. You can’t buy them all, we know, and that’s why we did it for you and made a selection of the best five: the last one is the best.

It often happens that the contents of the product do not look like the photo on the box. That’s not the case with the Organic Roasted Vegetable from TJ’s. The vegetables are perfectly well cooked and it offers the whole range of colors that make this a nutritious dish. The dough tastes very good for a frozen product, which is surprising. It has ingredients such as yellow pepper, red onions and salted eggplants, with pieces of fresh tomato and zucchini that provide an interesting taste experience.

Trader Joe’s Mushroom & Cheese Flatbread

It doesn’t look very appetizing at first glance, but this pizza tastes great. It is imported from France by Trader Joe’s and is, technically, a flatbread. The cheese melts quite well but, if you want the crust to look more golden, the cheese may be toasted and burnt in some parts.
Oyster mushrooms are a high point in this frozen product.

This pizza is, quite simply, beautiful. If no one told me it was frozen before I put it in my mouth, I think I wouldn’t notice it. It is on the same level as the Organic Roasted Vegetable Pizza but its ingredients are distributed throughout the dough in a more uniform way. It comes topped with Italian sausage, uncured pepperoni, roasted red peppers and roasted onion.

Trader Joe’s BBQ Chicken Pizza

By far, this pizza has the most delicious appearance of all the ones we have tried at TJ’s. Not only because it is full of succulent and juicy pieces of chicken and roasted onions, but because its edge takes on a delicious golden color when baked.

Even before you take the first bite, sweet, salty, smoked and spicy smells flood your nose and palate making your mouth water.

Trader Joe’s Roasted Garlic & Pesto Pizza

Best of all: Trader Joe’s Roasted Garlic & Pesto Pizza

This pizza is, of all, my favorite. It has a generous amount of cheese and a roasted garlic aroma will flood your kitchen when you open the oven door.

What’s amazing about this pizza is that it grows when baked, and the pesto has melted to melt into an embrace with the cheese. Of course, it loses a little volume as it cools and is cut into slices.

The notes of basil, olive oil and walnuts from the pesto are a great moment when they touch your palate. Its edge is the crispest of the five pizzas we tried.
