Walmart’s affordable groceries any American home can buy

The American retailer is helping costumers to save even more money with the “frozen” prices.

Sincerely, as Americans, we are not used to cope with inflation. This concept sounds like something that happens in another country, not in the United States, doesn’t it? The economic phenomenon happens when general level of prices for goods and services are rising because of internal and external factors, and, subsequently, impacts the families’ purchasing power. Central banks (and the Federal Reserve, it’s equivalent in the US) attempt to limit inflation, and avoid deflation, in order to keep the economy running smoothly but, amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, it’s becoming more difficult along the time.

To deal with it, supermarket chains have a key role since they are an essential part of the economy, and companies like Walmart are taking an active part in the situation. For that, it’s offering “inflation free” goods and groceries for this Christmas and New Year’s parties.

High prices in Walmart’s? No thanks

“We kept costs low to keep spirits high”, says Walmart when announcing its plan to sell products that are not impacted by inflation, in this promotion that sells this year’s meals at last year’s price. That’s, actually, a great relieve for the costumers since food is not an option for anyone.

Christmas Dinner Walmart discounts

And it’s precise to say that saving money is important more than ever in American homes, but, for Christmas dinner, you don’t want to have to skimp. Once again, Walmart is aware of that, and have put into this inflation-free list some basics such as turkey, ham, potatoes and stuffing, but the convenience items are there too, like ready-to-heat mac and cheese or freshly made pumpkin pie. And so, tens of other items are protected with this plan from Walmart.

“For the big holiday meals that matter — and all the weeknight dinners in between — Walmart has a selection of the items people want at the prices they need, during a time when American families need it most,” John Laney, executive vice president of food at Walmart U.S., said in the release.

According to the company, their team have been working to ensure “a strong supply for all the holiday mealtime essentials”, and will make an extra effort to keep the turkey under $1/lb.

“The past couple of years have shown us that how our customers gather during the holidays is changing, with celebrations big and small. To best serve our customers all the ways they holiday, we offer an expanded selection of turkey offerings, from traditional whole turkeys of all sizes to bone-in breasts, boneless roasts and smoked turkeys,” Walmart added in its statement. You can take a look at Walmart’s site and find, for example, frozen turkey at an average of 98.0 ¢/lb; pecan halves at 3.1 ¢/fl oz; bone-in spiral cut ham at $2.28/lb, or turkey gravy at an average of 16.5 ¢/oz.
