Walmart’s Latest Move Is Making Costumers Happy and Amazon Angry

Amazon's got competition, and this time it's Walmart that will bring great benefits for the costumers.

Walmart is stepping up its game and Amazon is having a hard time to keep up the pace. You know those apps where you can take a pic of something, and it’ll find it for you? Well, Walmart has TrendGetter and Amazon has StyleSnap, but Walmart is always trying to one-up Amazon. And they did it again with Text to Shop. You can just text your grocery list and boom, Walmart’s got you covered for delivery or pick up. Amazon can’t do that yet with Alexa.

But the biggest flex by Walmart is their plan to install electric vehicle fast-charging stations at nearly all of their locations, including Sam’s Club. That means 90% of Americans will have a charger within 10 miles of them. Amazon can’t match that yet. Walmart’s Senior VP, Vishal Kapadia, said they’re investing in the future of EVs and making it easier for families to do all their shopping, charging, and eating in one spot. EVs can be pricey right now, but the price is coming down and Walmart knows that. They’re thinking ahead and getting ready for when more people make the switch to electric.

Saving Money Tricks for Walmart Bargain Hunters

If you’re on the hunt for discounts, of course Walmart is your place. Now, there are ways to even more discounts. First up, check out the clearance section. It might sound like a little obvious, but for sure that’s a place where you can find, virtually, everything from groceries to sporting goods to clothing. I know it’s easy to get caught up in the regular-priced stuff, but trust me, the clearance section is where it’s at. You can find some seriously unbelievable markdowns there.

And if you want to hit the clearance jackpot, go shopping during the first five days of the month. That’s when Walmart usually marks down most of its clearance items for the month.

Now, here’s a little secret: not all clearance items are marked with those yellow tags. Sometimes, items that haven’t been tagged yet are selling for super low prices. But don’t worry, there’s an easy way to find out if an item has been marked down for clearance.

Just use the Walmart app to scan the item’s barcode and get the scoop on its price. You might just find that a supposedly full-priced item is actually on the clearance list.

Deals in the Walmart Groceries Section and Refurbished  Products

If you’re looking for deals in the grocery area, keep an eye out for produce, meat, and bakery goods that are about to hit their best-by date. These items frequently get moved to the clearance rack the night before, so you can grab them at a discount. And if you see something that’s about to expire but hasn’t been marked down yet, ask the manager if there’s a discount available.

Speaking of managers, they can be your best friend when it comes to finding deals. Some stores might have clearance items that are only available at that location. So don’t be shy: ask the manager if there are any big-ticket items on clearance that you should know about.

Last but not least, don’t forget to check out Walmart.com for refurbished items. You can find some sweet deals on used items that still have valid manufacturer’s warranties. Just type “refurbished” into the search bar to see what’s available.
