And what is worse, some of our children come to us who have been in the pool and come home like real crabs and we make use of our inheritance.
Since to cure burns there are many home remedies, some used by our mothers, others by our grandmothers and others inherited directly as if it were a family treasure, passed from generation to generation. And you, do you have any home remedies that your family used? Would you like to share it with us?

Lavender essential oil:

This oil has analgesic and antiseptic properties, making you feel relieved, we just have to put two drops of lavender essential oil on a gauze, then put it on the burned area (we will repeat this operation two or three times), for several days, this protects the skin and heals it whenever it is a minor burn.
We can also use it by mixing in a 60ml spray bottle of water with five drops (it is the maximum that can be used in essential oils). Applying it to the burn area, it is ideal for skin burns caused by the sun in the pool, but if you really want to make it much more effective, you can mix 2 drops of lavender, 2 of witch hazel oil and 1 of the tree of tea .

Honey:

It is one of the most famous home remedies for sore throats since its properties as a natural antibiotic and antihistamine will help us prevent infections in burns, thanks to the fact that it contains slightly acidic components, bacteria do not survive in that environment.
It is convenient to put honey in the injured area about twice a day, always before each application we will wash thoroughly so that there are no remains from the previous time. Honey helps to heal as well as to relieve pain caused by burns, it eliminates the liquids generated in the affected area by cleaning it.
Honey does not disinfect, it only relieves pain and hydrates the skin so that it does not lose its “natural oils”, as it also has antioxidants, it favors cell regeneration and prevents scars from becoming too marked.

Honey, oatmeal and milk paste:

To the properties that we have said previously of honey, we must add its antihistamine, antibiotic, and moisturizing qualities of oats , with which with these two elements it will be enough to ward off infections from burns. To make this mixture even more effective, we will use warm milk to which we will add a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of oats, making a pasty mixture that we will apply to the affected area. When it is at room temperature, when the time we deem necessary has passed (about three hours), we will remove it from the burn with warm water until there is no residue left and we will repeat as many times as necessary.
The previous mixture can also be used in the phase that the burn has already healed and it stings so we will avoid scratching, but to make it more effective, we will do it in the following way: we will put in a bowl a coffee spoonful of water, another of oatmeal, another of baking soda and a little honey. We will smear it and spread it over the entire burned surface and leave

Apple cider vinegar and white vinegar:

Thanks to the properties of vinegar (it contains acetic acid that calms pain, it is a disinfectant, an astringent that prevents infections), and to its composition, it is a natural reliever for pain caused by sunburn, we just have to apply it diluted in water in form of cold compresses. We will have to change the compresses applied to the burned area every three hours.
Never apply directly, as it will be aggressive with the damaged area that we have from the burn.

Potatoes:

When we talk about potatoes, we all come to mind the wonderful potato omelette and we really want to eat it, but now we are not talking about this wonderful dish, we are going to talk about the qualities of raw potatoes to relieve burns: anti-inflammatory, soothing properties and makes the skin recover faster.
We choose a potato, we peel it very well without leaving any skin or “eyes” and then we grate it with a cheese grater, if we do not have one of these graters, nothing happens, we can grate it in the one we have. We apply as if it were a dressing for five minutes, we repeat two or three times a day.

Aloe vera:

Aloe vera par excellence is what makes this plant essential for epithelial care and regeneration, as it is analgesic and astringent.
For its use, what we must do is cut one or more leaves of this plant longitudinally, extracting its pulp or aloe vera with a knife. While you do this in a saucepan we heat the water, when it starts to bubble we add the aloe, stirring continuously until we see that it has taken on the consistency of a gel. When it has cooled down, we will put it on the burn until we see that everything has been absorbed, after a few minutes we will see how it disappears and the burn no longer hurts so much. We will remove it very carefully and with medium warm water.

Rosehip, olive and turmeric oil cream:

This cream is to be applied when the burn is almost healed. Ideal to hydrate and prevent the appearance of the hated scars, we will apply this cream in the morning and at night before going to sleep.
In a container with a lid (glass jars are worth preserving) the aforementioned ingredients; three tablespoons of olive oil (moisturizing), ten drops of rosehip oil (healing) and half a teaspoon of turmeric coffee (soothing and anti-inflammatory).
Note : We have to be careful when we apply this cream, turmeric as everyone knows is also a coloring and can stain our clothes.

Onion juice or juice:

Although it sounds strange to all of us, one of the many qualities of onion juice or juice is that it is antibiotic and natural healing, thanks to the fact that it has sulfur and antioxidant components, preventing irritation, pain and the formation of blisters in the area. affected.
There are three ways to get the juice out of an onion, with a grater, with a juicer and with a blender .
We will put it with a gauze soaked in the juice and then we will gently massage the skin affected by the burn.

Advice:

There are also countless home remedies such as the yogurt and coconut oil mask, milk, toothpaste, vanilla, etc.
If it is a considerable burn (such as the palm of a hand), we must go quickly to the health center or hospital to have the first cures.
Remember that you should not burst the blisters caused by the burn, do not lift or cup the skin of the burned area.
Always when using a home remedy we must make sure that it does not present any contraindication to our health, since we can be allergic to any of its components.
