When making any purchase, it is always important to consider the seller’s return policy. Of course, this also applies to brands such as IKEA. However, for products that have been opened, this period is reduced to 180 days after purchase.

The maximum limit would not be the day of receipt but the day of product payment.
How to make returns at IKEA
The return process at IKEA is simple. The first thing you should keep in mind is that you will need to have, logically, the product you want to return in good condition. The next thing is to have the receipt of the purchase. Remember, without proof of investment, it is not possible to make any return (although a little further on, we explain a possibility in this regard). Finally, you will be asked for an identification document, such as your state ID, driver’s license, etc.
To make the withdrawal in person, go to the nearest store (it does not have to be the same one where you made the purchase) and follow these steps:
- Access the returns and exchanges entrance.
- At the returns and exchanges counter, follow the instructions.
- Proceed to identify yourself and return the product.
It is possible to request a refund for the product, but also, it is possible to try to exchange it for another one the same or similar.
Remember that sometimes, depending on where you live, you can request to activate the pick-up service through IKEA. If this service is available, you can set a pick-up time for the product or furniture. If it is not available, the return is always done in person.
On the other hand, there are some exceptions to IKEA’s return policy. These products do not have the same terms and conditions for reimbursement, for example, a mattress. It is not possible to get a refund on a mattress. It will only be possible to exchange it for another mattress within a period not exceeding 90 days. Moreover, this operation could only be carried out once.

Can I make a return without a purchase receipt?
Actually, the proper way to obtain a refund is to present a sales receipt. However, IKEA may make this return in other ways. To do this, they may look for your credit or debit card number, the gift card number if you used this format, or the order number when purchasing online.
Beware, this does not mean that they will reimburse you. Sometimes, you may be eligible for a merchandise credit, and in other cases, a refund will not be possible. So, remember, you must keep your receipt.
