Good news for Maine residents facing food insecurity, since starting in two days, low-income households will receive their February payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps. Eligible residents who meet specific income requirements can use these benefits to purchase groceries, easing their financial burden and ensuring access to nourishing food.

With approximately 161,800 beneficiaries, constituting around 12% of Maine’s population, the food stamps benefits distribution aims to support a significant portion of the community during this period (source: Center on Budget and Policy Priorities).

For February SNAP Payment Dates in Maine

The distribution period spans from Saturday, February 11th, to Tuesday, February 14th. Notably, the payment schedule is organized according to individuals’ dates of birth, with those ending in 0 and 9 receiving their benefits on Saturday, February 11th, followed by 1 and 8 on Sunday, February 12th, 2 and 3 on Monday, February 13th, and 4 and 7 on Tuesday, February 14th. Furthermore, individuals with birthdates ending in 5 and 6 will also receive their benefits on Tuesday, February 14th.

In 2024, the maximum SNAP benefits are subject to variation based on household size and location. Additionally, the resource limit for all states and territories remains unchanged at $2,750, while households with individuals aged 60+ or disabled maintain a resource limit of $4,250. It is noteworthy that Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have distinct maximum benefits. For specific amounts tailored to these regions, We recommend consulting the USDA Food and Nutrition Service website or reaching out to your local SNAP office for accurate and updated information.
